The 2020 version of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is well underway. Today’s countdown profile is a redshirt sophomore walk-on defensive lineman from an elite athletic program in Detroit: Christian Love.

Name – Christian Love

Position – Defensive Line

Hometown – Redshirt Sophomore from Detroit, MI (Detroit Country Day School)

Height – 6’0”

Weight – 289 pounds

Christian Love was a dominant high school player, earning first-team all-state honors as a defensive lineman at Detroit Country Day High School. As a senior, he garnered 62 tackles with 26 of those for a loss. He was also a team captain and even lettered in basketball for two years. Most importantly, Love excelled in the classroom and he was an honors student throughout his high school career.

Christian Love has several attributes Tom Allen looks for in his walk-ons. He was a captain, an honors student and a two-sport athlete. In short, he “checks all the boxes” you want in a walk-on that can provide extra depth to a position and help the squad in practice. In time, he could develop into a role player on the field.

The redshirt sophomore did not see game action last season but he has earned scout team player of the week two times over the past two seasons.
