As we barrel toward a football season that’s been shifted to only include conference play, the Hoosier Huddle countdown carries on. Today we’ll take a look at a young defensive lineman from Indianapolis, Stephen Walker II.
Name – Stephen Walker II
Position – Defensive Line
Year/Hometown – Redshirt Freshman from Indianapolis, IN (Brebeuf)
Height – 6’3”
Weight – 300lbs
Stephen Walker II joined the Indiana football program a year ago as a walk-on during fall camp. Walker redshirted the season to pack on some size and get acclimated to the college weight room. As a four-year varsity starter on the defensive line in high school, Walker helped lead his team to the state title in 2017.
The versatile athlete also lettered in track and field where he specialized in shot put and discus. Walker’s talents don’t stop with athletics. The young defensive lineman was a national chess finalist and advanced wind ensemble percussionist. He also posses a black belt in Taekwondo.
Now entering his redshirt freshman season, Walker hopes to carve out a role in the Hoosiers’ defensive line rotation. With a year of college safely under his belt, Walker will have plenty of opportunities to see the field.
