/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
Despite an ominous sense of doom for the 2020 fall football season, the Hoosier Huddle Countdown marches on until told that games have been cancelled. The Hoosiers have wrapped up their first three practices of the fall and today we focus on Gabe Cohen, a safety who transferred in from Villanova prior to the 2019 season.
Name – Gabe Cohen
Position – Defensive Back
Year/Hometown – Redshirt Senior from Sloatsburg, New York
Height – 6’1”
Weight – 213 pounds
Cohen was a star at Suffern High School in New York before taking a prep year at the Hun School in Princeton, NJ where he earned all-state honors.
Gabe Cohen arrived at Indiana University via Villanova University prior to the 2019 season. He played in 17 games with the Wildcats and posted 50 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four pass breakups. He also received the 2017 CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award and was named to the 2016 CAA Football All-Academic Team.
Cohen redshirted last season with the Hoosiers after playing in one game. He made the biggest impact on scout team where he earned Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week twice and Special Teams Scout Team Player of the Week once. The Hoosiers have a ton of depth in the defensive backfield, but Cohen has the motor and the talent to find a role on a couple of the Hoosiers’ special teams units in 2020.
