2019 Countdown - #7

Name – Reakwon Jones

Position – LB

Hometown – Lynn Haven, Florida

Height – 6’2

Weight – 233

Today, with exactly a week to go until the Ball State game in Indianapolis, we’re taking a look at #7, Reakwon Jones.

Hailing from A. Crawford Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida

In Jones’ junior year, he was an excellent addition to the starting lineup. The weak-side LB made 36 tackles, 24 solo and 4.5 tackles for loss. Pair those with one sack, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups, and you’ve got yourself quite the productive LB.

Jones is a two time IU defensive player of the week for the Virginia and Ball State games. His performances last season make Jones one of the more formidable LB’s on the gridiron in 2019.

In high school, Jones was a first team Class 5A All-State selection and the Bay County Defensive Player of the Year. He tallied 124 tackles, 13 for loss, five sacks, six forced fumbles and two interceptions as a senior.

This season, as Kane Wommack has said, Jones will be part of a complete defense by committee, sharing playing time with a few others. This is just another testament to how deep this position group is under Jones.
