His name is Sio Nofoagatoto’a. Best to learn his name now because you’ll likely be hearing it quite often for years to come. Sio is a 6-foot-4, 302-pound defensive lineman from American Samoa. Sio is well-travelled, having moved from Samoa to Australia when he was 15 before finally settling in Clearwater, Florida by age 17. Another multi-sport athlete, Sio dabbled in a little bit of everying. He played rugby, volleyball, and swam competitively. He’s also a musician, playing both guitar and piano.
On the gridiron, Sio is a menace. During his two lone seasons at Clearwater Academy, he racked up 135 tackles, 54 of them for a loss, along with eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Along with fellow Indiana signee, linebacker D.K. Bonhomme, Sio helped lead his program to an 11-0 undefeated season. His stellar play earned him a unanimous spot among the best 100 defensive tackles in the entire country. Sio has the size and frame to compete for a substantial role on the defensive line as a freshman. One last time for good measure: Sio Nofoagatoto’a. Sio is poised to have a memorable career in Bloomington.
