Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 78 Days (Britt Beery)
The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff has begun. Eleven weeks plus a day remain until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2018 season on the road against Florida International University. Today we will highlight number 78, Britt Beery.
Britt Beery (Redshirt Freshman)
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 271 Pounds
Hometown: Carmel, IN
Position: Offensive Line
In his second season as Indiana’s run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Darren Hiller will have second year player Britt Beery at his disposal. Beery was a defensive lineman in high school who converted to offensive line early in his collegiate career. He redshirted the 2017 season and won scout team player of the week during Georgia Southern week.
Beery was recruited from Indiana’s Carmel High School, joining upperclassman teammate Issac James as the second Carmel player on the roster. He will later be joined by a third Carmel player and the Hoosiers’ latest splash on the recruiting trail, 4-star defensive lineman Beau Robbins. Beery was a 3-star recruit out of high school ranked as the number 9 prospect in Indiana by Rivals and the number 55 strong-side defensive end nationally by 247 Sports. He served as a team captain and led Carmel to the 2016 6A state championship.
In the 2018 season, Beery will likely serve only as added depth for what should be a much-improved returning offensive line. Bolstered by Wes Martin, Coy Cronk, and Miami (FL) graduate transfer Nick Linder, Beery will learn as much as possible from these veterans and hope to make a strong influence on the offensive line later in his career.
