Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 71 Days (Delroy Baker)

#71

The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff has begun. A day over 10 weeks remains until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2018 season on the road against Florida International University. Today we will highlight number 71, Gavin Everett.

Delroy Baker (Redshirt Senior)

Height: 6’6”

Weight: 324 Pounds

Hometown: Ocala, FL

Position: Offensive Line

Run game coordinator and offensive line coach Darren Hiller should feel a bit less uneasy when peering at his offensive line depth chart next season. Part of this will be because of #71, redshirt senior Delroy Baker. Baker has shown the versatility to make appearances all over the right side of the line, both at guard and tackle, the past three seasons for Indiana. Last year, Baker lined up at the two positions in ten games, including earning four starts at right tackle. He was named the offensive player of the game in Indiana’s 41-0 thrashing of Rutger. Although Indiana did not earn the right to play in a bowl game in 2017, Baker capped off the season by graduating with his undergrad degree in Psychology during Winter Commencement.

Baker came to Indiana in 2014 as a 3-star prospect. He was ranked as the nation’s 31st best tackle by ESPN. He played high school ball in Florida – before being a Florida HS football player recruited to Indiana became such a normality.  Moving forward to the upcoming season, Baker will be an interesting player to watch. As a senior with experience, leadership to offer, and the versatility to play virtually anywhere along the line, Baker will find himself in multiple position battles. Even if he does not crack the starting rotation, he will serve as depth to an offensive line that features eight players with significant starting experience.
