There is just something about Plant High School in Tampa, Florida and Indiana can’t get enough. The school keeps producing tremendous athletes and luckily for the Hoosiers, Coach Tom Allen has the connections. Micah McFadden, an outside linebacker from Plant, committed to Indiana last summer and is now on campus going through summer workouts. Three other Hoosiers attended Plant High School including defensive back Juwan Burgess, wide receiver Whop Philyor and linebacker Thomas Allen.

McFadden; a three-star recruit, chose Indiana over Boston College, UMass, Southern Mississippi and Toledo among others. As a junior, he posted 116 tackles, 14 sacks and one interception. Senior year he finished with 211 total tackles, 126 solo, 7 sacks, 1 interception and 2 fumble recoveries. He had an impressive high school career and will be a fantastic addition to the Hoosier defense.

With the Hoosiers losing starting linebackers Tegray Scales and Chris Covington and not many seeing actual field time at the position after those two, linebacker is going to be a position that Indiana will focus on building in the offseason. It is a position that was a focus throughout the spring and will continue to be in order to find players to replace the huge numbers the two starters produced. Reakwon Jones is a linebacker that has stepped up and took a leading role and one that Coach Tom Allen has spoken highly of, as well as Thomas Allen and Mike McGinnis. McFadden will provide good depth as he learns the defensive scheme over the summer and entering the fall.
