Indiana University was gifted with extremely good news on Wednesday evening as starting left tackle Carter Smith announced he is returning to Bloomington and remaining a Hoosier. Smith had been in the transfer portal and visited several powerhouse programs with Florida State and Ole Miss standing out as probable destinations but he surprised many by sending a message on social media that he was ready to play for new football coach Curt Cignetti.

Sure, the Rutgers team is not your typical Big Ten east foe.
The Scarlet Knights came to Bloomington having lost 15 straight Big Ten games and outscored 130-7 against Big Ten opponents this season.
Nonetheless, what Indiana’s defense did to Rutgers today was downright impressive.
