A Way Too Early Look at the Hoosiers 2025 Football Schedule Highlights, Quirks and More
/Written by Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2025 Indiana Hoosiers football schedule was released on Wednesday afternoon. While the Hoosiers still have at least one massive game left in the 2024 season, it’s tempting to look ahead to 2025 and plan out the season. It’s too early to give record projections and all that, but here are the highlights and quirks.
2025 IUFB Schedule
Saturday, Aug. 30 vs. Old Dominion
Saturday, Sep. 6 vs. Kennesaw State
Saturday, Sep. 13 vs. Indiana State
Saturday, Sep. 20 vs. Illinois
Saturday, Sep. 27 at Iowa
Week of Oct. 4 BYE WEEK
Saturday, Oct. 11 at Oregon
Saturday, Oct. 18 vs. Michigan State
Saturday, Oct. 25 vs. UCLA
Saturday, Nov. 1 at Maryland
Saturday, Nov. 8 at Penn State
Saturday, Nov. 15 vs. Wisconsin
Week of Nov. 22 BYE WEEK
Saturday, Nov. 29 at Purdue
Highlights
Seven home games.
The Hoosiers finished the 2024 season 8-0 at home and sold out the final four home games of the season. IU’s early home schedule gives fans a chance to see their team before the weather turns.
Road Trips to Bucket List Venues
IU will make road trips to Oregon, Penn State and Iowa in 2025. All three of these venues are special in the sport of college football. If you can get to all three venues, I would recommend it.
Spittoon Game is Likely Homecoming
IU always puts their homecoming game in mid-October and unless their philosophy changes, the Spittoon game against Michigan State will likely be IU’s homecoming game.
Quirks
Two Bye Weeks Again
The Hoosiers will have two bye weeks again in 2025. The first on October 4th and the other on November 22nd, a week before the Bucket Game
Back-to-Back Long Road Trips East
The Hoosiers will play at Maryland in week 10 and at Penn State seven days later. That’s a lot of mileage for fans traveling to watch the Hoosiers.
IU Doesn’t Hit the Road Until September 27th against Iowa
No Friday Games…yet
Right now the Hoosiers are not slated to play a week night game. That could change as those games are announced closer to the start of the season.
No Michigan and Ohio State
I am not celebrating because it makes IU’s schedule easier, but it’s nice not having to face either of these teams that IU has played every year since 2013.
