Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

We continue our run on offensive linemen as the Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff continues. Today we look at incoming transfer offensive lineman Trey Wedig as we hit the first quarter post.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: # 75 Trey Wedig

Height: 6’7”

Weight: 317 pounds

Hometown: Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (Kettle Moraine)

Previous School: Wisconsin

Class/Position: RS Senior /Offensive Line

The Hoosiers started to revamp their offensive line room during the last year of the Tom Allen Era with bringing in former Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Bostad. While the line still had issues, it was moving in the right direction. Bostad was the only coach who Curt Cignetti retained after the change and his work was aided by one of his former Badger players, Trey Wedig.

“I was looking for an O-line coach who could help me get a lot better. Having Coach Bostad helped me make strides. He makes things very clear in what you need to do and how to get better. You’re not guessing, which is nice.” Wedig said during spring practice on why he chose Indiana.

There is some confidence in the offensive line, at least in the top seven or eight players, the coaching staff said this spring. There is competition there as well and Wedig isn’t guaranteed a starting spot.

Wedig, who wants to start every game, has been working on his weak points to reach his goal.

“I’ve been working on my weak points,” he said after one of the Hoosiers’ spring practices. “Working on my pass pro sets and a couple of small things in the running game. Things you always have to keep working on.”

Wedig played in 35 games with eight starts for the Badgers and can play all over the line, something that the Hoosiers desperately need.
