Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

Big Ten Media Days is wrapped and fall camp starts in Bloomington in less than a week. Football is so close you can feel it. With 36 days to go until the IUFB opener against FIU, we look at walk-on redshirt freshman Clay Conner.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: #36 Clay Conner

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 210 pounds

Hometown: Booneville, Indiana (Booneville)

Class/Position: RS Freshman/ Defensive Back

Clay Conner joined the IU football program last fall as a walk-on after a stellar high school career at Booneville. He played both ways in high school and took home plenty of accolades. Conner was named Indiana Football Coaches Association Class 4A All-State as a senior and was selected to play in the IFCA North-South All-Star Game. He was also two-time All-Southwestern Indiana as a junior and senior. His play earned him Pocket Athletic Conference MVP as a senior. During his senior season Conner had a major impact on both sides of the ball as he totaled 2,262 yards of total offense as a senior, passed for 1258 yards and 13 touchdowns, rushed for 1,004 yards and 15 touchdowns while making 63 tackles with 8.0 tackles for loss and six interceptions.

Conner has the size and athleticism to find his way onto the field in some capacity during his IU career.
