2023 Countdown to Kickoff: 7 Days (Jacob Mangum-Farrar)
/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today’s profile features grad transfer linebacker Jacob Mangum-Farrar.
Name: Jacob Mangum-Farrar
Hometown: Sugar Land, Texas (Kempner)
Position: Linebacker
Year: RS Senior +
Height/Weight: 6’4”/240 pounds
Jacob Mangum-Farrar may be new, but he is hard to miss his 6’4” 240-pound frame on the field. The Super Senior linebacker comes to Indiana from Stanford where he played in 22 games with the Cardinal from 2018-22.
Arriving in Bloomington for spring practice gave Mangum-Farrar time to learn the scheme and work his way up the depth chart. He has meshed well with his teammates and has found his voice in the locker room.
“As his body has grown and developed, his comfort in the scheme has grown and developed. Which has allowed him to start focusing on the next steps.” Linebackers coach Chad Wilt said. “He also has used his voice in the position rooms, and the defensive unit room and the team room pulling guys together. He’s proving himself to himself but also proving to others he’s worthy and capable of having that voice and they’re listening.”
Mangum-Farrar will be the likely starter alongside Aaron Casey when IU starts their season against Ohio State on September 2nd.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 6 tomorrow!
