2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 8 Days (Jaquez Smith)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at wide receiver Jaquez Smith.

Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height/Weight: 6’1”/202 pounds

Smith is a former four-star prospect out of the 2021 signing class and was named a preseason all-American six times by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

He redshirted the 2021 season and took part in scout team, winning scout team player of the week twice for offensive and special teams (Western Kentucky and Maryland respectively). He missed all of 2022 with an undisclosed injury.

He is currently buried in the rotation of a deep wide receiver room but has a chance at playing time this season.
