2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 79 Days (Max Williams)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at walk-on offensive lineman Max Williams.

Hometown: Lebanon, Indiana (Lebanon)

Position: Offensive Line

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height/Weight: 6’6”/297 pounds

Williams joined the Hoosier football program as a walk-on during fall camp prior to the 2022 season as he redshirted. The Lebanon, Indiana native has family in Bedford, Indiana and has always considered them as family.

“It’s always been like my family there,” Williams said. “I have family that lives in Bedford, and my parents, uncles, some other family have all gone there.” Williams said in a Lebanon Reporter article.

Williams believes that with some development on the field he can find his way into some playing time down the road, but he also knows some of the other advantages to going to a university like Indiana.

“My size has an advantage there obviously,” Williams said. “Academics are something I value a lot and they value that too. I am going to go there and compete and see what happens.” He said in the same article.

Williams did win a Scout Team Player of the Week award in 2022 and the next step is to be able to get on the field for some game snaps.
