2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 7 Days (E.J. Williams)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today’s profile features transfer wide receiver E.J. Williams.
Name: E.J. Williams
Hometown: Phenix City, Alabama (Central)
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Senior
Height/Weight: 6’3”/200 pounds
E.J. Williams comes to IU with something to prove. As a former highly-ranked recruit, Williams began his career at Clemson before he fell out of the rotation with the Tigers due to injuries. In total, Williams played in 32 games for the Tigers.
“"I played a good bit at Clemson, but I just didn't feel like I was getting enough targets, enough opportunities. So, I just felt like Indiana was the best school for me, best fit culture-wise, and giving me the best opportunity to be the best on the field." Williams said of his decision to transfer.
Wide receiver coach Anthony Tucker said Williams has “had a great summer, and somebody that's really, really come along. Again, another guy that fits really well into who we are as a program. Really excited about EJ and where he is in his development right now."
Williams gives IU a deep threat as well as a bigger target at receiver. He should start on the outside for IU and if he can stay healthy has a chance to be IU’s leading receiver.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 6 tomorrow!
