Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at Junior College transfer Jojo Johnson.

Name: JoJo Johnson

Hometown: Merriville, Indiana (Merriville)

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Sophomore

Height/Weight: 5’11”/180 pounds

JoJo Johnson was an Indiana target out of high school but chose to head to Notre Dame as part of their 2021 class. He spent a season in South Bend before heading to Iowa Western Community College.

Johnson played in nine games for Iowa Western and totaled 16 tackles and three interceptions. He also returned one kickoff for 21 yards. He was highly sought after coming out of JUCO.

The Hoosiers needed to rebuild their secondary in the offseason after attrition left them thin. Johnson can be a big part of the turnaround even though he was not in for spring practice and joined the Hoosiers officially at the beginning of June. Johnson has the ability to make plays on the ball, something the Hoosiers have been lacking for the last two seasons.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 62 tomorrow!
