2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 26 Days (Josh Henderson)
/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today’s profile features Senior+ running back Josh Henderson.
Name: Josh Henderson
Hometown: Pennington, NJ (The Hun School)
Position: Running Back
Year: Senior+
Height/Weight: 5’11”/225 pounds
Henderson was Indiana’s most consistent running back in 2022 after transferring in from North Carolina. He proved to be the bruiser that IU needs in the run game and a good pass catcher out of the backfield. Last year Henderson had 672 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.
“He's such a steady guy, he's so consistent, so dependable in every way.” Head coach Tom Allen said. “You just talk to the strength staff, the discipline in his diet, the way he's put on a lot of good, lean muscle mass to create more of a Big Ten body. He's always had a good frame on him, but he's taken it to another level. He's a quiet guy, but there's also the ability to lead that room, to be able to be a great example. When you think about being a great teammate, it's doing your job, setting that example of being a consistent guy.”
This year, Henderson should be in a more prominent role alongside Jaylin Lucas.
