2022 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 29 Days (Liam Zaccheo)
/Written by Andrew Walker
The Hoosier Huddle 100-day countdown is approaching 75% done and we’re moving right along. Liam Zaccheo is our next target of discussion as we move into the final stretch of the countdown. The young redshirt sophomore should be poised to make some impact this season.
Name: Liam Zaccheo
Hometown: Jensen Beach, Fla
Position: DB
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6’0
Weight: 183
Liam Zaccheo is a relative newcomer to the Indiana Football program. He joined as a walk-on in the 2020 season during fall camp. He didn’t see any game action in 2020, although he was Academic All-Big Ten. Zaccheo joins the roster this season as a redshirt Sophomore after being a part of the largest selection of Academic All-Big Ten student-athletes in Indiana history.
Zaccheo’s high school career should be an indication of how impactful he’ll be for the Hoosiers at some point. He was a four-year captain and starter. During that time he earned all-state and all-area selections as well. He was named to the Florida Times Union Super 11 team, and closed his career with 200 tackles, 30 TFL, two INT, and two forced fumbles. He holds the program single-season record with 112 stops. In addition to his football career in high school, he was a one-year wrestling and track letterwinner.
Zaccheo should be able to at least compete for some third string playing time at DB and on special teams this off season, given how hard he’s worked and the competition level of the DB’s.
