The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is in its final four weeks! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2022 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Illinois in Bloomington. Today, we will highlight two members of the Hoosiers: Trent Howland and Xavier Trueblood.
Trent Howland (Redshirt Freshman)
Hometown: Joliet, Illinois
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 239 Pounds
Position: Running Back
With the graduation of Stephen Carr and departure of much of the remainder of Indiana’s running back room, there will certainly be time up for grabs this season at the tailback position. Trent Howland, a second-year player and former top 16 recruit in the state of Illinois, will look to take advantage of this opportunity. Howland saw three games of action last season before redshirting to keep his four years of eligibility. He rushed six times for 20 yards in those appearances, while also being named special teams scout team player of the week against Western Kentucky. Howland is a big, thickly built athlete that gets his advantage from his physicality. He will be a good bruiser option behind some of the smaller, speedier backs on the roster like Jaylin Lucas and Shaun Shivers.
Howland is still determining his major at Indiana. His One Word for 2022 is Determination.
