When you think about someone who’s really ready to take the next step to superstardom for the Hoosiers, Javon Swinton should come to mind. Originally a three-star recruit from North Stafford high school in Virginia, Swinton has become somewhat of a household name among the receivers position room as the next guy in line. He appeared in all eight games as a freshman and made his first career start in the Outback Bowl vs. Ole Miss.

Last season, the young receiver caught 15 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. He returned a punt for a 4-yard TD in the Idaho win, also nabbing three balls for 33 yards and his first career touchdown in that game. Swinton’s production this year though, should be drastically increasing. As he becomes more of a veteran in the locker room, Swinton should have some more opportunities to start this season and make a serious impact.

Swinton’s high school career was quite an interesting one. Playing both wide receiver and cornerback in Stafford, VA, he posted 48 catches for 858 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior season. On top of that, he also added 46 tackles, two interceptions, seven PBUs and one forced fumble. He was ranked the no. 20 prospect in Virginia by Rivals when he committed to Indiana.
