2021 Countdown to Kickoff: 89 Days (Matt Bjorson)

89 days remain until kickoff of the 2021 IU football season. The Hoosiers will kick off the season against Iowa on Sept. 4th. Make sure to keep checking the Hoosier Huddle website each day for a new player in the 100-day countdown. The 89th player is senior Matt Bjorson. 

Matt Bjorson

Height: 6’3’’

Weight: 241 pounds

Hometown: Hinsdale, IL

Position: Tight End

Bjorson will look to back up Peyton Hendershot at tight end this season, but will still receive some playing time at the position. During his freshman season, he appeared in all twelve games and put up minimal numbers.

During his sophomore season, Bjorson appeared in all thirteen games and caught a touchdown pass against Nebraska. He was also named special teams player of the week when IU played Ball State. Last season Bjorson also appeared in all eight games and made his first career start against Rutgers, but only caught one pass. 

Bjorson also won the Ted Verlihay “Mental Attitude” award this offseason, which goes to show his ability to lead as a senior going into this season. He also stood out in the strength and conditioning program this spring.
