2021 Countdown to Kickoff: 6 Days (James Head Jr. )

It’s officially ‘Game Week’ as we are just a mere six days away from the Indiana Hoosiers kicking off the season at Iowa. Today’s featured player is James Head Jr., a defensive lineman who is set to bring havoc off the edge for the Hoosiers.
Name: James Head Jr.
Hometown: Miami, FL
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Senior
Height/Weight: 6’ 5”/262 pounds
James Head Jr. had a breakout year in 2019 as he played in all 13 games as a sophomore when he made 20 tackles including four for a loss and 2.5 sacks. Head Jr. was a standout recruit out of Miami Florida and was thrust right into the action as a freshman in 2018. For his career in Bloomington, Head has played in 32 games and has made 54 tackles including nine tackles for loss and four sacks.
This season Head is expected to be a big contributor off the edge for the Indiana defense, but his production must increase to stay in the starting lineup. The Hoosiers brought in several defensive linemen via the transfer portal, so jobs are up for grabs.
If Head and the other defensive lineman can increase their production, the IU defense will move up another level.
