2021 Countdown to Kickoff: 20 Days Part II (Joseph Daniels Jr.)
/Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The college football season is so close we can nearly smell the freshly lit charcoal from the parking lot. We have just 20 days until the Indiana football season kicks off against the No. 18 Iowa Hawkeyes in Kinnick Stadium. Today we feature two players who wear the number 20, running back Tim Baldwin Jr. and DB Joseph Daniels Jr.
Name: Joseph Daniels Jr.
Hometown: Johns Creek, GA
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Redshirt Junior
Height/Weight: 5’ 8”/192 pounds
Daniels joined the Hoosier program as a walk-on in 2018 after allowing just five receptions for 83 yards with four pass breakups as a senior at Roswell High School. He redshirted the 2018 season in Bloomington.
The redshirt junior has appeared in three games with the Hoosiers and is a five-time Scout Team Player of the Week. Daniels also enjoys success in the classroom as he is a two-time Aceademic All-Big Ten selection.
Our “special teams scout (team player of the week) was Joseph Daniels Jr. Just another guy that continues to work hard. High character young man, excellent student.” Tom Allen said prior to the 2019 game against Michigan.
Daniels should figure to get more time on special teams and work his way onto the field in that area a couple for times this year.
