The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is in its final stages! Under three weeks remain until Indiana’s first game of the season against Iowa in Kinnick Stadium. Today, we will highlight a member of the Hoosier secondary, Josh Sanguinetti.
Josh Sanguinetti (Redshirt Sophomore)
Hometown: Lauderdale Lakes, Florida
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 185 Pounds
Position: Defensive Back
Jamar Johnson’s departure to the NFL Draft left an opening at safety, and a man with the potential to replace him is Josh Sanguinetti. Sanguinetti joined the Indiana program as a member of the 2019 class as a high 3-star (247Sports, Rivals) or 4-star (ESPN) prospect. He redshirted his first season on campus but began to make an impact last season as he saw six games of action. Josh tallied eight tackles, seven of which were solo, and had one pass breakup, all at the safety position.
Josh’s size was of concern in the past, as he carried a slight frame and was listed at just 173 pounds. However, he has put on 12 pounds over the year, which will help him be a more reliable body on the back end of this defense. Things are still shaping out in terms of the safety depth chart, but Sanguinetti will surely be a part of the Hoosier secondary in the 2021 season.
Josh’s one word this season is Focus.
