2021 Countdown to Kickoff: 14 Days Part II (Larry Tracy III)

Just two weeks separate us from the kickoff of the Indiana Hoosiers 2021 season when IU travels to Iowa City to face the Hawkeyes. Today we round out our two-parter with Indiana defensive back Larry Tracy III
Name: Larry Tracy III
Hometown: Indianapolis, IN
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height/Weight: 5’ 11”/182 pounds
Larry Tracy III came to IU as part of the 2019 recruiting class after a stellar high school career at Decater Centeral in Indianapolis. He was a three-time all-state selection and racked up 292 tackles and eight interceptions in his high school career.
Tracy III redshirted his freshman season in Bloomington, but appeared in the win over Eastern Illinois. In 2020, he played in all eight games on defense and special teams.
This season should see Tracy III gain even more playing time, but his time to shine may be a year down the road as the Hoosiers have a ton of depth at defensive back.
“One guy that really keeps doing a great job is Larry Tracy III.” Indiana cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby said last season. “He keeps making plays. As a freshman, he was kind of scatter-brained, but you can understand that. He has locked in, gotten into the college, started to understand the flows of college and he is locked into football. I see a totally different change in him on and off the field. I am excited for him and the process he is doing to give himself an opportunity to go play.”
