2021 Countdown to Kickoff: 12 Days Part II (Lem Watley-Neely)
/Written by Andrew Walker
The Hoosier Huddle 100 day countdown has almost neared completion, and as it’s wrapping up, the 2021 Hoosier football season is just about to begin. Today, we’re looking at Lem Watley-Neely: DB for the Hoosiers.
Name: Lem Watley-Neely
Hometown: Harper Woods, Michigan
Position: DB
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height/Weight: 6’ 0”/180 pounds
Watley-Neely came to the program last year having played over 10 positions at his high school in Michigan. A true jack of all trades came to the Hoosiers and he’s ready to make a splash at DB. Having redshirted the 2020 season, Watley-Neely made his collegiate debut against Michigan State in East Lansing. Having made appearances at both DB and special teams, Watley-Neely is most likely raring to go for more playing time this upcoming season.
Watley-Neely’s high school career was a melting pot of success at almost every position. On defense, he made 41 tackles, six for loss, with three interceptions. On offense, however, he caught 13 passes for 217 yards (16.7 average), and three touchdowns, and he rushed for 779 yards and seven TDs. Quite the resume for someone that the Hoosiers will be looking to within the next few years, if not this year, to step in and make a difference.
