Britt Beery, 6’6”, 250 pounds, Carmel, IN (Carmel High School), DE, 247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-star (83.79)
His high school teammate Kurt Rafdal elected to look elsewhere following the IU coaching change but Britt Beery chose to stay in the Hoosier state and stick to his commitment. The three-star defensive end starred for Carmel High School and he’s rated as the 16th best prospect in the state. He chose IU over Ball State, New Mexico and Syracuse and there was interest from Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Northwestern.
Britt has spent his entire life around football. His father, Jack Beery, was a coach for Carmel High School and Britt attended practices as a young boy. He progressed as a player and grew into a strong defensive lineman and his hard work and dedication over so many years paid off with an offer he couldn’t pass up, a chance to play college football in his home state.
“I’d been to a lot of colleges and IU just had a different feel about them, a better feeling about them,” Beery said after committing to IU. “Not to bash other school, but IU makes you feel like you’re at home.”
Beery is strong and athletic but his most intriguing asset is his height. At 6’6”, he will arrive in Bloomington as the tallest IU defensive lineman. If he can learn to utilize that height and length as a pass rusher, he could develop into a disruptive force that proves to be a problem for opposing offensive tackles.
