First Quarter Grades: Indiana Hoosiers Offense

First Quarter Grades: Indiana Hoosiers Offense

While we may be only three games into the season, it also happens to be the quarter mark of the 2013 slate. Isn’t it amazing how much quicker time flies when football is around?! Well, with that unfortunately being the case, we decided it was time to take a look back at the opening trio of games that the Hoosiers have played.

As opposed to doing a boring breakdown of each game, we decided to spice things up a bit and give a first quarter report card to each unit of the team. Today we are kicking things off with the offense, but don’t worry, we will be grading the defense, special teams, and even the coaches throughout the week.

Grades for the Hoosier Offense are after the jump!

Game Wrap-up and Reaction: Week 3 Bowling Green

Game Wrap-up and Reaction: Week 3 Bowling Green

What a difference a week can make.  After getting torched for 41 points against Navy the Hoosier defense came out on a mission and did not allow an offensive touchdown.  The Hoosiers faced the Bowling Green Falcons with their season in the balance in Week 3 and proved they can overcome a poor performance in Week 2.

Why They Played:  The Hoosiers and Falcons meet for the first time on the gridiron as part of a home-and-home series.  Indiana always has had a good relationship with the MAC and plays at least one school from the conference every year.

What The Game Meant:

This was a must win game for the Hoosiers.  Not a should win or a could win, but a real must win game.  After falling to Navy, the Hoosier’s bowl hopes rested on today’s game against the Falcons.  Kevin Wilson deemed it a big enough game to break out the Chrome helmets a week early.

Hoosier ground Falcons in 42-10 Victory

Written By Sammy Jacobs (@sammyj108)

The Indiana defense made a statement today in the Hoosiers (2-1) 42-10 drubbing of the Bowling Green Falcons (2-1) this afternoon at The Rock.  After getting lit up by Navy’s option offense, the Indiana defense held the Falcon offense to just three points, pitching a shutout over the final 30 minutes and forced two turnovers.  The offense, after a slow start, put up 601 total yards including 335 yards passing from sophomore Nate Sudfeld.  Indiana also got a big effort from running backs Tevin Coleman and Stephen Houston as they combined for 284 yards on the ground.  Bowling Green’s lone touchdown came on a blocked punt that was returned 56 yards by Paul Senn.  Bowling Green took a 10-7 lead on a Tyler Tate field goal, but the Hoosiers went on the score the next 35 points in route to the victory.

Three & Out Defense: Week 3 Bowling Green

Three & Out Defense: Week 3 Bowling Green

Good morning Hoosier Nation! It is game day in Bloomington as the Bowling Green Falcons invade the Rock to face the Hoosiers.  Fall is in the air finally, and the Hoosiers will try to regroup on defense after a subpar performance against Navy.  All I have to say is thank goodness Indiana is not facing another triple option team this week.  While Bowling Green’s offense has put up 37.5 points a game, the Hoosiers should not have as much trouble stopping this more traditional offense.  Let’s take a look at the three keys for success the IU defense, so put down your brat or beverage for a few minutes and read along.

Finally it is Friday and game day is almost here.  This week the Hoosiers take on the Bowling Green Falcons at noon at The Rock.  Yes, it is an early game, but it is a big one for the Hoosiers as they need get the season back on the winning track after falling to Navy last week.  Aside from the Hoosiers breaking out the new chrome helmets tomorrow we are going to give Hoosier Nation three things to look for offensively from Indiana.

Know Your Opponent: Bowling Green Falcons

Well at least week one was fun right?! Alright so the clock is ticking closer and closer to the return of football after its week long break, which means that we may finally be able to wash that bad taste out of our mouth. You know the one I'm talking about, and no, it's not my girlfriends cooking.

It has been a very long week if you are a Hoosier fan, and an even longer if you have to write about them, trust me!

However, if Indiana can take care of business on Saturday against Bowling Green all should be forgiven, right? OK, maybe not, but the season might get back on track, and at this point that is all we can hope for. While I am sure you all have been consuming ungodly amounts of football after a summer of pigskin sobriety, I highly doubt very much of that has involved Bowling Green. Don't fear, that's why were here!

Find out everything that you need to know about the Hoosiers' week three opponent, the Bowling Green Falcons right after the jump!
