The 1,000 Yard Rusher: Will Indiana Ever See One Again?

The 1,000 Yard Rusher: Will Indiana Ever See One Again?

Having a player rush for 1,000 yards is something that has eluded the Hoosier football program for quite some time.  In fact the last such season was put together way back in 2001 when Levron Williams rushed for 1,401 yards.

The Hoosiers don't just miss the 1,000 yard mark by a handful of yards each year, they have not even sniffed the mark  since the 2003 season when Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis, rushed for 938 yards in his freshman year.  It looked as if The Lawfirm would be the next Hoosier in line to crack the 1,000 yard barrier.  However, after two years in Bloomington the running back headed closer to home and transferred Mississippi.

2013 Recruiting Redux: Instant Impact

2013 Recruiting Redux: Instant Impact

As already discussed in our first edition of Recruiting Redux, the 2013 Hoosier recruiting class is the most talented to walk on the campus in at least a decade, and very possibly of all-time.  One of the things that may have drawn them to Bloomington was Kevin Wilson’s penchant for playing the best players regardless of seniority.

While the head coach has shown that to be true during his first two years at the helm, 2013 might be a bit of a different story.  Not so much in that he won’t play the man who can do the job best, but because there are finally less spots to fight for in the lineup.  Indiana returns somewhere between 16 and 20 starters depending on varying definitions of the word, but nevertheless it’s a hefty quantity.  This being the case it will be hard for many of the true freshman to make an immediate impact anywhere outside of special teams.

There are however a certain select few that due to lack of positional depth or just plain talent will be able to jump right in.  Today we will take a look at a few of the young men who have yet to play a down of college football but could be integral pieces leading to the success of Indiana football in the 2013 season.

Welcome to Hoosier Huddle

Welcome to Hoosier Huddle

Welcome to the Hoosier Huddle!  As you surely are aware, there are many sites   dedicated to Indiana University Athletics, most notably basketball.  However, while visiting these pages it has become painfully obvious that there was a gap in coverage when it comes to Indiana Football.  While it was touched upon occasionally it has generally taken a back seat.

We have set out to change the status quo.  While we understand that Indiana will always be considered a "Basketball School", that does not mean that their isn't room enough for two programs in Bloomington.

This will be a site solely dedicated to coverage, discussion and breakdown of the Indiana University Football Program.  We hope that in the coming days, months and years we can become your leading source for FREE Hoosier Football information.

2013 Preview: Week 6: Penn State Nittany Lions

We have finally made it; the Big Ten previews are here! No more breaking down MAC opponents, or even worse Missouri Valley Conference, yea I’m looking at you Sycamores. Today we jump ahead a week after the Hoosiers Week Five bye, and go straight to Week Six. I apologize to the truly hardcore Hoosier faithful who would want a break down of the off week, but ice baths and training tables just aren’t my thing!

Instead we are turning the calendar to October and looking ahead to Indiana’s Big Ten conference opener. The powers that be are even so intrigued by this game that they have yet to set a time or place it on a network, and will likely wait to see what type of threat the Hoosiers will present Penn State.

Catch the full preview after the jump!
