The Hoosiers and Hilltoppers meet for the fifth time in their histories on Saturday. Both teams come into the game at 2-0 and run quick tempo offenses, but it’s the defenses that will have my eyes. This will be an unorthodox match-up to watch as the units will not be on the field at the same time. On Saturday my eyes will be on the secondaries for both teams.

The Indiana Hoosiers are officially 2-0. After an interesting first half and subsequent dominant second half, the Hoosiers are moving on to Western Kentucky University in an attempt to start the season 3-0. After scoring 23 straight points in the third quarter of the Idaho game, Indiana is still looking for their identity. Becoming a good football team is about consistency, and Indiana hasn’t quite found theirs yet. Today’ we’ll be taking a look at some keys to victory over WKU.

Each game week, we will take a further look into the stats to preview Indiana’s upcoming matchup. This week, Indiana takes on the air-raid offense of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers out of Conference USA. This will be the second of the Hoosiers’ three non-conference foes and the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools. Indiana pulled out last season’s late September matchup on the road, 33-31.

What The Game Meant: This was a must-win for the Hoosiers as they wrapped up the non-conference schedule. For the Hilltoppers it was a chance for a Group of Five upset over a Big Ten squad at home.

How to Watch: The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and can be heard on the IU Radio Network.

Series History: The Hoosiers and Hilltoppers have met three times previously with the series beginning in 2008. IU won that matchup 31-13 and then won in 2010 by a score of 38-21. 2015 was a wild matchup as the Kevin Wilson led Hoosiers notched a narrow victory over Jeff Brohm’s Hilltoppers, 38-35 in Bloomington.
