2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 93 Days (Nicolas Radicic)

Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at another specialist, incoming freshman kicker Nicolas Radicic.

Name: Nicolas Radicic

Hometown: Coppell, Texas (Coppell High School)

Position: Kicker

Year: Freshman

Height/Weight: 5’11”/180 pounds

Social Media: Twitter (@NicolasRadicic)

Nicolas Radicic comes to Indiana as a high school All-American and one of the top kicking prospects in the country. He was selected and played in the Army All-American Bowl. He was born in California before moving to Croatia and moved back to the United States in 2016.

The Hoosiers lost kicker Charles Campbell to the transfer portal and the field goal kicking in the spring left the door wide open for Radicic to take over the job in the fall.

“I had a great week of practice that led up to the game. We kicked about 10 live operation field goals with the team each day over six practices and I only missed two all week with one of them just hitting the upright. The field goal posts getting tighter had no effect on me and if anything that factor just made me better.” Radicic said when asked how he performed at the All-American Bowl.

Radicic is confident in his ability to make an impact early for the Hoosiers.

““I have battled it out with the best guys in the country countless times and I’ve always been at the top. Awards come and go, they are just a title. I’m ready to win some awards with the team and not just by myself. When I look at the guys in my class I see myself at the top with the best in the country and I’ve proved that over and over again” he said.

The move to Indiana and the weather that presents itself in Big Ten Country late in the season will not affect his demeanor either.

““Weather doesn’t effect me. It gets cold here in Texas as well. There have been two snow storms in the past two years and it stayed very cold. Put me anywhere in the country and I will give u everything I’ve got. A little cold never hurt nobody!” he said.

Radicic will likely be the opening night place kicker for the Hoosiers.
