All bookstores. What retail, restaurant, service biz company do you miss most?
I miss browsing the shelves of Blockbuster. Holding the VHS/Dvd’s seemed cool. Was also an excuse to grab some ice cream.
I miss the Blackberry and buying Kodak film. Something cool about grabbing a role of Black and white for the manual camera.
And Shakey's and Chicken Coop.

My wife and I really miss Rax Roast Beef. We always enjoyed going to Mr. Gattis Pizza in our hometown of Washington IN but they left. We have to go to the one in Martinsville when we visit family down there because it is on the way since we live near Fort Wayne.
While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon
@evanalvarez8 I happen to be in Des Moines this weekend. And guess what, they have Quizno’s.
@vanpastorman JMV on Indy sports radio has talked about Rax and I believe he’s said there are some locations left, but not in Indiana.
@eppy99 He even has a Rax t shirt. But he has lost a ton of weight so the t shirt would just hang off him. Did you hear about the misinformation Friday? Someone in the youtube chat in the morning 1070 show said JMV's mother died. So JMV starts getting a lot of messages of condolence. He calls his mother and asks her what she is doing. She said she was going to Odon to the meat market and wanted to know if he wanted any. Then he told her about the misinformation and she says, "Well, I am F ing here!" I thought that was pretty funny.

@vanpastorman I didn’t listen on Friday but that’s hilarious.
The Ground Round... cold pitchers of beer, OK food and affordable.
Steak and Ale - when you were trying to impress a young lady.
@eppy99 Yep, there are a few Quiznos left. The food I think is fine to good, but unfortunately the real issue there is it's been a case study in bad franchising. That's wrecked their store count.
@tammany @vanpastorman @evanalvarez8 I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Quiznos. I do recall Rax though. Didn’t they serve roast beef and baked potatoes?
@eppy99 Rax also had the big salad bars, back when that was a thing. There are a lot of sites devoted to the downfall of Rax, they are a warning on how not to do things. The sure below has a link to the commercial that killed Rax. Mr D would work as a parody, but not to sell

I never went to Gray Brothers often, but that entire subset of restaurants I miss. Bloomington had a Duffs, Bedford and Linton had Stolls (Linton was owned by a poster here), Columbus had Gene's where I worked in HS. Cafeteria/Buffets have died. It isn't that the food was great (though some were, most were MCL like, no flavor), but it is getting hard to find good "down home" cooking. No, that is not Cracker Barrel. I still can't figure out why people like that place.
Bloomington had Pancho Villa, probably the first Mexican restaurant I went to (assuming we do not count Taco Bell).
As a kid, GC Murphy's was great. Probably the best toy selection.
@arthur-dent that is hilarious on our group chat we literally were just talking about rax yesterday. that beautiful atrium. luxury fast food dining.
there are also a couple of original pizza huts left. before it became horrible. hot pan. red cups. etc.
