I thought Yosemite was incredible…
Corfu island off the coast of Greece. Just spectacular.
Skellig Michael Island off the coast of Ireland (pre star wars fame), Yellowstone, Yosemite, many parts of Maui, Kawai, and Oahu, Loire Valley in France, Irish countryside to name some. Haven't yet been to the Grand Canyon

Last week in Minnesota's Iron Range.
Too many awesome places to post. I have a hard time thinking I should travel outside of the country to see nature.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Good to see ya back Hooky! And yeah I agree with you. People often point to Americans' lack of travel overseas as some sort of flaw but we truly have an embarrassment of natural riches in our own backyard. The wife (who is a cave kook) and I have taken several road trips over the years.
Her favorite was a 17 day RV trip in the fall on sort of a cave circuit with stops in Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma and the final destination of Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico.
Mine was a 2 week camping trip in the early fall along the Great Lakes east up into the Adirondacks in New York. Of course we hit Niagara Falls along the way as well as a few cave systems.

In 2019, we took a 22,000 mile road trip of the United States and a few Canadian provinces. Saw 30+ national parks and monuments and about the same number of museums and galleries. Stayed mostly in old restored hotels and B&B’s. Best travel experience ever.

That sounds wonderful but I have to admit I don't think I've got that amount of continuous travel in me. That said though the wife has plans for the both of us when she retires in a few years. When she was a kid her grandparents had an RV and would travel the country and she always spent a month or so each summer out on the road with them. She describes those trips as some of her fondest memories seeing all the wonderful things America has to offer, and we want to share those kinds of adventures with our grandkids.

We broke it up in a 7 week trip and two 4 week trips. In between we were home for a few weeks.
We bought a gently used Audi cabriolet for the trips and my daughter bought it when we finished. Great fun.
The Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland was pretty great. Parts of northern Michigan surprisingly rivaled the Virgin Islands for me, in terms of the clear water and scenery. The Grand Canyon was pretty awe-inspiring.
There were some stretches along the southern coast of Portugal in/near Lagos that were pretty spectacular. We scheduled kayaks to go in and out of the caves on the coast, but they wouldn't let us go because the waves were too high/rough. We did take a boat and were able to see them. Pretty great, but probably not as cool as going in and out of the caves.

Ouray, Colorado. The beauty of the drive to it, (north or south route - doesn’t matter) can’t be explained and the destination is not too shabby either 😉
Vehicle off the cliff on million dollar Highway near Ouray. Only minor injuries
