@arthur-dent I don’t like many comedies, but I like this kind best. The ones that don’t tell much story but just blast you with jokes. The jokes are hit and miss but enough to keep you laughing. I snort laughed at this one:
In reference to Liam Neeson’s characters dead wife: Oh I’m sorry , how did she pass?
Pretty good actually, she could sling it 50 yards or so. Could a gone pro, but then you know, she died. Saints or Cowboys (? Not sure) , but NOT the Browns.
I’m going to think of this every single time someone talks about someone passing and likely have to hold in inappropriate giggles.
Just watched episode 1 of the Apple show, Platonic. It feels kinda chick flick like, but it’s got Seth Rogen and he’s pretty funny and the script is good so I think I will proceed. Seems there’s so many shows I’ve watched lately but none are comedies. This will be a welcome change.
Edit: Apparently this isn’t new. The show is now into season two
Rose Byrne is probably the most underrated/ best comedic actress is a couple decades. Any time she has a comedic role she steals the show. She also has great chemistry with Rogen.
Anyone watch Hostage on Netflix? We are 2 episodes in, it appears to be what you get when writers force something to happen and create a stupid hole to create it. No real spoilers since this is the premise of the show if you read the basic outline of it on Netflix.
The plan is to kidnap the British PM's husband who works with Doctors Without Borders. So, French Guyana is safe, we will send him there with zero security. Other things like that happen, the teen daughter forces her way into a top security meeting. Sure, McM's daughter could but that is the exception that proves the point.
I am not sure I want to bother with the remaining 2 episodes.
Just watched the first episode of the new HBO/MAX show Task. First episode was good, it’s worth continuing.
Has this list ever been posted?

@bradstevens That’s a good list. I’ve seen most of them but added a couple to my list. Thanks.
I’m really excited to watch the new Netflix documentary Starting 5.
Slow Horses season 5 has been so good. 1 episode left and I can't wait. The only drawback is that 6 episodes in a season isn't nearly enough.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I think I want to watch House of Dynamite on Netflix (premiers today). If anyone watches before tomorrow evening, let me know what you think.
Recently watched The Outfit, a 1950's Chicago-set mob thriller. I'm not 100% satisfied with the plot; I think the film in the end failed to adequately explain why the main character did what he did. But other than that flaw, it was tightly written, and the cinematography was solid. The acting was pretty good all around, but especially by Mark Rylance, whose age is showing in this one, but doesn't prevent him from retaining is normal gravitas.

After reading the post-release reviews, I changed my mind. I saw a couple comparisons to Civil War, which was a huge disappointment. Sounds like yet another movie with no real resolution.
Started the new season of The Diplomat instead. Keri is still a babe.
Pluribus is great. Pissed I can't binge the whole thing at once.
Train Dreams is beautiful & devastating. Shot in 1.5:1 aspect ratio, so it’s not the settings…
Task on HBO is really, really good.
Wake Up Dead Man, a Knives Out Mystery is out on Netflix. Liked it.
I thought the social commentary was pretty interesting (the critique of the Trump phenomena is tough to miss), especially in light of the way in which it portrays Catholicism and the protagonist's take, which I thought also made a relevant critique of the left, although I'm not sure that's what the filmmaker was going for. The lead actor is really good, among a star-studded cast. He's got a bright future.
