Watched Nope last night. I hate scary stuff. It won't blow you away, but it is good. Not too scary but had tense moments.
@bradstevens yes, but they only showed about 5 minutes of actual Yellowstone.
I really hated Naked Gun. Hated it right up until the time I saw it 3 hours ago. It isn't Nielson , but clearly one of the 4 best Naked Gun movies. As a comedy I would give it a B, maybe a B+.
I love comedies like NG, Airplane, Mel Brooks, or Monty Python, that do not show restraint. Throw it all out there, let the audience laugh at what they like. The comedies Hollywood tends to make try fewer jokes, when some miss there is a long break between laughs.
Heck, even my wife laughed at some and she doesn't tend to like this type of comedy.
I did not think Qui-Gon Jinn could pull it off. After the badly done opening, I didn't have any objections.
Last night the Dr and I threw on the brand new TV mini series Chief of War with Jason Mamoa. Perhaps we were just tired or maybe having to read closed captions at the end of the night to translate was the downfall but I just cousins manage it last night. Maybe we’ll try it again but it won’t be first on my list of shows to watch.
The show is on Apple. Please let me know if I need to give this another shot.
Really good. Keep watching.
@carramrod I'll get back to it, but I think I want to finish Slow Horses and check out Stick. I did enjoy the cinematograpy of Chief of War though. I still think the show Untamed had some of the most beautiful shots I've seen recently.
@bradstevens I'm not usually a super heroes movie fan (except for the darker Batman versions), but this was fun. It was a nice escape from everything (including this board).
Just watched episode 1 of the Apple show, Platonic. It feels kinda chick flick like, but it’s got Seth Rogen and he’s pretty funny and the script is good so I think I will proceed. Seems there’s so many shows I’ve watched lately but none are comedies. This will be a welcome change.
Edit: Apparently this isn’t new. The show is now into season two
Peacock has a new series based on The Rainmaker. 1st episode appears good, certainly far more a character story.
On the recommendation of a friend, I started watching Justified. I'm hooked.
I never thought I could find Kentucky this interesting.
I just watched the Penguin. Not usually a superhero fan, but after all the Emmy nominations, decided I’d try it. Really thought it was well done, no Batman or superhero powers. Colin Farrell is unrecognizable, I kept looking in his eyes and still couldn’t see it. His main opponent is a female, can’t recall her name, but she’s up for an Emmy also and excellent. Strong work from Penguin’s young ally too.
Just starting Slow Horses.
There has not been a movie in theaters all summer that I’m interested in and normally I go to one a week. Wonder how long big screens can afford to stay open?

Apologies, if already posted. Loved this and was very excited to see that a second season is planned for ‘26
No, it was the first chronologically and in release date.@bradstevens wasn’t First Blood the prequel?
I assume this one is Rambo in Vietnam.
