Christian Nationalism vs. Democratic Socialism. Which is scarier?
Within the Christian Nationalists, we have to include a bit of fascism for this to be fair. And the version of Democratic Socialists we are talking about are the ones today, who hold third-world anti-colonialism and "anti-racism" as the backbone of their ideology rather than Marx's class dynamic and see no problem with religion, apparently, as long as it is Islam.
Tough call. Both want to change the USA into something I don't want to see. But I think I'd rather live in a nation governed by the former, since I am a white male.

the optics are bad tho and magnified with social media. when people are struggling to fill their tank and put food on the table and you're being blasted with the lives of billionaires and hear one guy is worth a trillion resentment kicks in adn people barking for socialism sound more appealing
That’s true, but these optics dont come just those who struggle to buy gas. Hate and envy plays a role and that is often manufactured.
The #2 at my company drives a Dodge Ram Power Wagon, a big garish four wheeler (think monster truck wannabe) as his daily driver, and he runs back and forth to Columbus daily. But on the occasion when he stays in town he drives his Maserati. He then gives us shit for idling our delivery cars between runs when it's 85 degrees outside.
We won't be breaking out the torches and pitchforks, but the lack of self awareness is grating.

According to the new Haberman/Swan book, Trump presented them with an essay by a "historian" (turned out it was a caddy from one of his clubs) that compared him to Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Alexander, the Caesars, and Napoleon (can't remember the others) and said that Trump was more "powerful" than any of them. By a lot. Trump thought that was one helluva compliment.
I don't pay any attention to NYC politics other than seeing the nonsense people post here and elsewhere, but was surprised and dismayed to see Dan Goldman get beat, and beaten so badly. I thought he had a bright future. Seems his continued support of the State of Israel was his downfall, and this was against another Jew in a district were one in five voters are Jewish.

I mentioned something like this a couple days ago, that I think Maga is pushing independents and obviously dems further away, which means if their option for 28 is a far left dem like AOC vs someone like JD Vance, I think AOC is gonna win, not because she's such a great candidate, but because she's not affiliated with the administration that claimed no new wars who then got in another war (that we look absolutely foolish in) and also would bring down prices while also claiming affordability isn't a big thing.

Cliff is wrong. You posted the reason in another thread for why socialists are taking over. It's because of immigration, not Trump. Immigrants and their children/grandchildren are the ones voting for this. If we had the population make up as the 60 or 70s this wouldn't be happening.
