I think he'd be better than that, but not 16-0 better. His talent evalution and player development is top notch. Even without the portal, I don't see Cignetti being worse than Bill Snyder. I refer you to Bill Snyder. Dude won 11 games seven times at Kansas State, when the Big 12 was a good conference. Managed to knock of Stoops 3 times (in 12 tries!). I think Cig could do that. He'd be in the second tier, maybe most years and every once in awhile challenge for the top. Don't forget, Gary Barnett won back to back Big Ten titles at Northwestern. Iowa won a few. So did Wisky. Besides the fact that so many of his players have stayed with him, his coaches have stayed with him for a truly unusual amount of time. I don’t know, but that doesn’t scream giant prick to me. Seems like the media who cover him seem to like him too. I’m pretty sure Fisch does.

Yes, money has been a big reason why Cig has turned this thing around really quickly, but I think there's this belief that we are going out and just buying the best of the best in the portal.
The portal class with Mendoza, according to 247, we had exactly 2 kids ranked in the top 150, and then our next two highest ranked kids were Knighton, who couldn't get off the bench and the TE Staes, who came in when we used 2 TE.
Cig is the absolute best at getting kids who fit what he wants and trusts his eyes. Then when they get here, they get better. Those are two qualities that are hard to do.
