One thing you’ll notice is that the piece relies on national testing data. If we eliminate DOE and don’t have a national standardized testing system to compare things, I fear states will game the system by simply making testing easier, move numbers around, etc. to make themselves look good, despite actual results. Illinois is in the process of doing that.

Just got back from driving my son and a couple of his friends for a few hours. They were talking about school and I asked if any of their teachers ever discussed Trump. All of them just laughed at me. All three said the day after the election last year, in every single class other than study hall and PE, every one of their teachers said they weren't going to learn that day, just spend the day "processing" Trump's win and expresssing their emotions. @zeke4ahs yet somehow he recognized that opening the border probably isn't a great idea. that we can't be climate zealots and not expect it to impact the price of gas. that we can't defund police. that we can't just give everyone endless benefits and stay all bills and not expect prices to go up. we could go on and on and on.
