Who is to blame for falling test scores in US schools?

In my district, this piece would be labeled racist.

One thing you’ll notice is that the piece relies on national testing data.  If we eliminate DOE and don’t have a national standardized testing system to compare things, I fear states will game the system by simply making testing easier, move numbers around, etc.  to make themselves look good, despite actual results.  Illinois is in the process of doing that.

not a bad topic for discussion.  you're starting a lot of threads tho.  with the badge comes great responsibility.  as it took sacrifice, persistence, and performance to achieve it i'd hate to see it devalued ....

This place would be dead without the new topics.

From anyone else, I'd scoff at the advice. But since you are a fellow Golden Badge member, I'll take heed of your sage wisdom.

I skimmed as quickly as possible before they stop me and require me to allow them to spam me. I agree overall that parents are the driver in kids doing well in school. Reading to them, as the article points out, is huge. I noted in my kids' experience, at school open houses, attendance by honors parents is very high. In non-honors classes it basically was a handful of honors parents and one or two non-honors. It was jarring.

He's not even starting new topics. He's just restarting old topics from the previous water cooler.

It's either that or Biden and all the woke DEI and CRT bastages.

Randi Weingarten. That lady is a cancer on the American education system.

In the last two decades, millions of parasites have attached themselves to our education system, slowly draining it of all life. Public school administrators are scum in 95% of cases.

Don't local school boards and superintendents (hired by the board) hire these parasites and scum? Should the state or the Feds intervene?
