@boogie Do you think both of these were politically motivated?
Not boogie, but we have a 20 year old loner who shoots firemen - that doesn't sound MAGA or political to me.
On the other hand, we have a group of at least 10 who were arrested for luring in ICE officials and then attempting to murder them. From a national ANTIFA organization.
I'd say that's a big difference.

I don’t know who Mike Shelby is or what he’s talking about, but a quick run through of his tweets suggest he’s kind of a nutbag.
Typical that you would attack the messenger instead of arguing his points.
His "points" are in line with him being kind of a nutbag. What is there to argue? People who attack federal agents - especially unprovoked - should be arrested and prosecuted.
@ohio-guy that the insane rhetoric of the left is only matched by the policies they advocate and it's inciting people. that this is just a totem of what the left has become. a very, very dangerous party that threatens everything that made our country great

You're totally f*#king with me, right? That has to be it.
@ohio-guy not in the least. get out of your bubble. if harris and walz would have won i can't begin to wonder what would have happened to the country. the left are very very dangerous. it was the incitement of the left that gave rise to the summer of love. defund. now they'll go after ice. you watch

"Go after ICE" is sort of loaded and could cover a lot of ground. If things keep going the way they are and keep getting worse, I'd be perfectly fine if they eventually held hearings to investigate ICE's overreach, abuse of power and human rights violations.
@ohio-guy while you vote for people who opened the border and created the problem
@receipt-keeper Probably the same place you'll find Fascism 2025 coverage.

I feel like I'm a broken record here, but I agree with you that illegal border crossings have been a concern. I don't believe it's the great plague on our society, nor do I think any politician is actually advocating for less secure borders. I'd be willing to be large sums of money that whoever I vote for in the midterms won't have a single policy on their website advocating for open borders or even lax border enforcement.

you voted for the people who rolled back title 42, aslylum agreements, funding, and remain in mexico.

Was there a Fascism 2025 conference to cover? I don't see one.
I did find the Socialism 2025 conference though. Quite the schedule.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

then why don’t you like people pointing out that the Left is being militant against ICE?
you say you think illegal border crossings are a concern, but then sh1t on the agency that tries to enforce the law.

You're putting a whole slew of words in my mouth there.
If 'the left' is 'being militant' against ICE - whoever that may be - they should be prosecuted. I don't believe in lawlessness.
If you've read my posts in this thread, you'd find that I take issue with how immigrants and people being mistaken for immigrants are being rounded up and treated.
Do these things constitute being "militant" against ICE?
-asking ICE agents to have uniforms,
-asking ICE agents to have identification: IDs, badges, SOMETHING
-asking ICE agents to identify themselves,
-asking ICE agents to not wear full face coverings to hide their identity
-asking ICE agents to tell people taken into custody the reason why
-asking ICE agents to disclose the location the people being detained are being moved to
Those are all I am asking of ICE agents. Basic stuff required of all other government agents or law enforcement personnel. Put yourself in the position of the person being taken into custody, pulled off the street or job site by someone who could just as well be a gang member posing as a federal official.

Wasn't title 42 part of emergency COVID restrictions?
And admitting asylum seekers into the country isn't inherently a bad thing. I'm from Springfield, Ohio originally and though there have been definite growing pains, the Haitian population has largely been a net positive there. Trump and Vance were so full of sh!t every time they talked about that.
