Was it a strike?

The pitch was a slider and miller’s arm motion showed he intended it to sink.  Many pundits complain it was a missed call.  I dunno.  The pitch was clearly above the knees at some point and clearly below when the catcher caught it.  Where the bottom fell out we can’t tell.  The DR was scoring a lot of runs, but they couldn’t handle our pitching.

On to the Championship tonight.

Go USA!

That pitch was a strike most of the night. It stinks it ended the game, but it’s not that outrageous of a call.

No it was not. It's not like K-zone glitched or something. It was a great pitch however and it's understandable the Ump missed it.

I would say it just missed the zone, but as a batter in that situation you just don’t let blue control the outcome. You have to swing and put the ball in play.

Can anyone here play this game?

Definitely not a strike. As a batter, If the ump was calling it lose the entire game you have to swing and fight it off. However, I would have been pissed too if I was that batter. Bad call.

@squeakyclean The ump did look a little bit like Enrico Pallazzo

This. Seemed like a ball, but the first thing you learn hitting is don't take a called third strike.

Not that I know anything about baseball as a 5'1", 320 lbs. stump.

Not sure it missed the zone. The batter shoulda swung. But with that amount of sink, likely a swing and miss.  I think the batter was thinking fast ball.

Probably right.

While I thoroughly loathe the ABS Challenge System coming on-line, my guess is that we’ll soon see a full-time system in place within 2-3 years, at the MLB level. It’s inevitable. If I were King, however, replays, ABS and any other non-human system would be dumped in the trash bin of history.

My preference would be a similar system in place at the NBA and collegiate level so palming/carrying and traveling would be called properly. At least until refs start calling it as per the rule book.

I simply assumed, that when Cuban put that 3d imaging video in assembly, that total AI reffing was already a conclusion.
