@unclemark Whatdowegot?? Malaria awareness! Going to do a photo shoot with a bunch of Africans 🤣
@oneeyedundertaker find me the quote I compared them.
Great, so those two both led nonviolent resistance. You seem to claim blowing whistles takes this past non-violent.
Both King and Gandhi knew their marches would be viewed as illegal and that would trigger the authorities. That is what blowing the whistles does. Pretti was armed, he was hearing the whistles, did he reach for his gun? Have any of the protestors reached for their guns? If blowing whistles cause people to become violent, why aren't hundreds of protestors attacking ICE? They had over 50,000 at a protest the other day. Any chance they couldn't have seized the hotel ICE is in?
Maybe ICE needs better training? Maybe some are just goons out looking to get into fights. We are pumping about $28 billion into ICE/year, they can't come up with ear protection if whistles are such deadly weapons.
I wouldn't blow a whistle, nor do I think others "should" but not one asks me. I don't see anything in the Constitution that makes it illegal. Arrest someone and take it to court; I have no doubt it gets thrown out. I don't doubt it annoys ICE, just as seeing Blacks march (or Indians march) annoyed the authorities in those days. The whole idea is to force an overreaction. This is how insurgents win wars. Look at polling, look at Republican elected officials now questioning, it is working. To defeat an insurgency requires discipline, something ICE is woefully short of. If ICE were trained to military standards, this tactic wouldn't be working.

Many people seem to see freedom the same as Frank Burns: "The way I see it, unless we each conform, unless we obey orders, unless we follow our leaders blindly, there is no possible way we can remain free."
Freedom is messy; get used to it.
@unclemark why does an arrest vs conviction come into play if local PD apprehends an unlawful resident?
I'm not good with detaining/deporting the roofers and housekeepers simply based on their immigration status. Those convicted (not merely accused) of crimes are a different matter altogether. And spare me the "they broke the law when they came here" trope.
So you want to ignore the law?
People defending murdering protesters are ignoring the law.
Which laws do you care about?
Credit to President Trump for seemingly shifting to a more reasonable approach in Minnesota.
The guy they were trying to pick up the Pressti was shot was a violent criminal (domestic violence among a handful of other charges).
How was he actively interfering, with his phone out and standing on a public sidewalk? He became involved when they roughed up a woman, pushing her to the ground. She was not involved at all with their operation and it is in no way clear that she was interfering with anything either, in any significant way
There is a segment of the left (I think a very large segment) whose position on the border basically amounts to open borders
Yeah, they love unicorns and fairies too. I have never met anyone in favor of open borders. I am sure there are a few loonies out there who do, but they are rare and dumb. Claiming it is "large segment" is (in your words) a bull shit lie.
You say to focus on the law
Absolutely, deescalate, but then if you have to, arrest, charge, detain, give them their day in court. No vigilante justice
Have things been more aggressive in Minnesota?
Public executions are "aggressive"? Dumb.

I congratulated Trump last night on backing away, led to a discussion on Democrats being evil
Crowds react in accordance with the lowest common denominator. It only takes one person to start a riot. One broken window yields hundreds. One scared (or mean) National Guardsmen yields 4 dead in Ohio.
We are a nation of laws, not men.

Freedom is messy because the left is making it so, it doesn’t need to be. Several former military folks are characterizing the actions of the anti-ICE folks as employing tactics that go well beyond protesting - they are being coached to cause conflict, not be heard. Deny all you want, but these people & those of you that support it want trouble, & you’re getting it. ICE interactions with violent protesters is messy, get used to it.😉

Well let's see, what did it look like last night when these "merely protesting" folks finally got dealt with by local police:

Welp...

Thats pretty insane. It’s one thing to adopt Marks view that simply being here illegally should not be grounds for deportation. I mean, he’s wrong, but that’s not anti American.
It’s quite another thing to say, as the mayor seems to be saying, that violent illegals should NOT be deported unless they commit crimes here. That is fundamentally unamerican in my opinion. Not only that, it HAS to be an extreme minority view among Americans. Not even noted “conservative” shooter holds that view.
If that’s the prevailing attitude in Minnesota, it’s no wonder they’re having all these issues.
