My concern is that even having the discussion is a distraction. Insisting on using loaded terms like "pedophile" shifts the discussion into semantic debates that have nothing to do with the issue at had - namely, the sexual exploitation of young women. It's still wrong, no matter what you call it. But drawing a line in the sand and demanding the right to call it "pedophilia" does more harm than good by moving attention away from the actual sin itself.
@bradstevens exactly. Why else would the dsm and others do it. The distinction matters for a number of reasons. @arthur-dent judges’ often aren’t much to hang your hat on for anything. They aren’t winning 9 figure mdls or equity partners at big law. Lots of night school grads who spent 25 years doing divorces or running low level criminal practices subsisting on bond assignments. There's also that. There are pedophiles who haven't committed crimes. It's hard for them to get the help they need already because of the stigma. It becomes even harder if you confuse "pedophile" with "rapist."

Like I said, you're just not paying attention to the changes. They definitely leaned left in the past, but the editorial page isn't now. The paper is now owned by Bezos who is all about pleasing the President and the Editorial Board is led by a MAGA writer (installed by Bezos) and other members of the board are also MAGA (also installed by Bezos and his MAGA Editorial Board leader. I suppose you don't recall Bezos preventing the editorial board from endorsing Harris as they were prepared to do (yes, that board was left) and that the board was replaced due to resignations and firings which left the board leaning right. Their editorial reflected Trump's and MAGA Republicans positions until just a bit over a week ago. Do you not recall that the President badly wanted the files not to be released?
