Because in real life, the vast majority of us don't see a crazy guy with a knife attacking people, and immediately slip into Rambo mode. The vast majority of us run the fuck away.
I just watched the documentary about the murders of the college girls in Idaho and I can’t think of anything else this weekend. I’d forgotten they were all stabbed.

I mean, maybe you would, and good for you, but I think 90% of the guys who think they would absolutely would not if it actually happened. It's just nature. Fight or flight. Two million years of evolution programs us to favor flight whenever possible.

It's good to have a plan. I have a pitching wedge in my bedroom, and I know exactly where to swing in what motion depending on which door or window a threat is coming through. I'm just saying I accept the possibility that, if a threat actually materialized, I'd drop the pitching wedge, shit myself, and hide under the bed. None of us truly know how we'd react until it happens.
I do recognize, however, that you live in the worst city in America, so I'm willing to grant you've probably prepared for this far more than the rest of us.
@goat i also think i'm athletic enough to be okay. i might get cut but i'm not getting stuck. and i can't imagine i couldn't get a couple dudes to help in an instant. to get 11 with a knife unless they were just all in line and and old and it happened very very fast seems crazy to me. and believe me if it were a gun this "courage" of mine would be non existent. i'd be ducking hiding and looking for an exit
