these are not deep thinkers
Right. We aren’t talking about Mensa level thinkers here. At the root of the Democrats and democrat socialists ideology is a sense of entitlement not a sense of earned economic and social benefits.
Isn't this bassackwards? Europe didn’t colonize to spread slavery, slavery provided labor to colonists just as boats provided transport. I think the present day hatred of colonization is rooted in cultural destruction and racism. And FWIW, vastly overplayed.
Is colonization about protecting and maintaining a culture or a practice of domination, which involves the subjugation of one people to another?
I don’t think it’s an “either” “or” question. Colonization came for a myriad of reasons and combinations of reasons. Some of them highly moralistic and others deeply exploitative.

How about theocracies which are both highly moralistic and deeply exploitive?
People have been killing & enslaving other people and taking their land since the beginning of time. The idea that it's only been western whites is perhaps the most ignorant viewpoint a person could have.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Ironically, it is the most ignorant, provincial, and kinda racist viewpoint out there.People have been killing & enslaving other people and taking their land since the beginning of time. The idea that it's only been western whites is perhaps the most ignorant viewpoint a person could have.

Without a doubt the Western white slave owners believed they were helping the slaves.
In my view, this falls more along the lines of bigotry than racism. Bigotry being the belief you are superior to others.
One example of bigotry would be Alexander H. Stephens, the Vice President of the Confederate States of America and a major plantation owner, who gave his infamous Cornerstone Speech in 1861.

I'm sorry, what?
Absolutely, hoot. I think some small % of white slave owners thought they were helping. The psychological need to think they were helping probably comes from Christian ideology. I think most had cognitive dissonance over it, and understood the hypocrisy of claiming to be a Christian and a owning human beings at the same time. Quite a few didn't care, too, because of that bigotry.Ironically, it is the most ignorant, provincial, and kinda racist viewpoint out there.People have been killing & enslaving other people and taking their land since the beginning of time. But I was actually referring to the current notion that slavery is peculiar to white people of the West. That opinion is ignorant, provincial, and kinda racist. The slave owners held opinions that were really racist, to be sure, but for a certain time, they were not historically or scientifically ignorant, although clearly morally inconsistent.
Remember when this guy was considered a public intellectual and serious scholar? I do. I'm guessing his crap is still taught in public schools, too:
