at its core, the idea Sean Duffy and the Dept of Transportation is trying to accomplish isn't a bad one. Curbing rude behavior and in-flight passenger disturbances is definitely something worth looking at.
But suggesting that can be accomplished by having people dress up for flights is kind of dumb and a waste of effort. Most people are trying to maximize comfort in an already uncomfortable situation - especially flying coach.
As long as people meet the current minimum guidelines for air travel dress - good hygiene, nothing offensive, etc. I really don't give two craps about what people are wearing on flights.
My better 1/2 and I had to fly Spirit last weekend, and part of their pre-flight announcement, along with how it is illegal to disable smoke alarms in the bathrooms, is how it's a federal offense to assault the flight crew.
Yikes. Have never heard that before on any other airlines.

Wow - yeah, I don't think I've heard that as part of the standard safety announcement either. That's wild.
How was the Spirit flight overall? I've been tempted to book them a time or two but have never pulled the trigger.
Sit in front. Lower expectations. Be prepared for delays. My better 1/2 and I had to fly Spirit last weekend, and part of their pre-flight announcement, along with how it is illegal to disable smoke alarms in the bathrooms, is how it's a federal offense to assault the flight crew.

I don't think it's dumb at all. I'd bet it would work. But I doubt it will be put into practice and personally would hate it.at its core, the idea Sean Duffy and the Dept of Transportation is trying to accomplish isn't a bad one. For me it depends on the length of the flight. A short one I’d be fine. Long distance=nope I’m getting comfy. What about the planes that give you pajamas??

It would probably work. Generally speaking American dress has become far too casual. But nothing make my blood boil like seeing ugh slippers at the airport.
You can see photos from the Great Depression of destitute people in bread lines…. wearing three piece suits.
How you dress in public matters, people do and should judge you for it.
Ohio Guy also has a point. If airlines want people to stop behaving like animals, they should stop treating their passengers like cattle.
Holy shit! From your first sentence to your last, I agree with this entire post.I don't think it's dumb at all. I'd bet it would work. @bulk-vh i hate flying. no matter how many times i flight i get nervous. few years back i flew allegiant. as i'm walking in the beatdown mini airport a 100 yards away i see my ex's bro. he was also a soccer teammate for years. but i hadn't seen him in at least five years. the second he saw me instead of waving high or anything he looked right at me and made the sign of the cross and bust out laughing. immediately ruined my flight.
that said i absolutely love and seek out the shitty airlines. frontier. allegiant. spirit. from here they are the only ones with a direct flight and i'll take that all day

I'm laughing inside just thinking how this would be enforced.
