Tennessee explosion

I'm very thoughtful of the people who died, but I have seen photos of the site in multiple sources, like CNN:

https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/11/us/tennessee-explosion-military-accurate-energetic-systems-wwk-hnk

And I don't want to be conspiratorial or anything, but what explosion turns paved roads into dirt, but doesn't knock down trees?

Direction of the blast, perhaps? Parking lot is towards the opening. But I’m no explosives expert, unless you count the toilet…

Wild guess, walls were reinforced blocking sideways blast. So it went up, and down. The down triggered shockwaves that damaged the pavement. The trees were either further, or since they can withstand wind, can withstand the wave action.

I had corn on the cob yesterday so this hits particularly close to home.

The “unless you count the toilet” part that is.

Brilliant. Thank you.
