I'll be interested if any of the Right on this board will actually just say, "The whole DOGE episode was a shit show...full stop."  I won't be waiting around for it, but I am interested to see if it happens.

@spartans9312 Smaller government is always the answer.  The opposite of what we’re seeing with Dems.

That said what @arthur-dent brings up highlights where private and public practices don’t always match.  You read these billionaires and they all seem to adopt the same decisive approaches.  Act. Move. Decide. Go fast.  Fix problems later.

you and spartan deflecting from one of your master's numerous major mistakes.

Not shocked

@hurryinghoosiers No stupid.  Some of us just operate on an intellectual level that is so far beyond you that translation becomes an issue.  I suspect this actually isn't a big deal as all4you alluded to this information is already widely disseminated and available.  That doesn't absolve DOGE from the fck up.  Frankly I'll be surprised if more aren't revealed given the haste with which they came and went.  What's more precautions and safe measures adn adhering to strict protocols doesn't seem like anything Trump/Musk are that worried about.  My suspicion is that Trump loses and reveals important information that he shouldn't on a weekly if not daily basis.

DOGE effort is best analogized to the Charge of the Light brigade. The effort was so noble, and the task in front of them so insurmountable, that we forget it ended in failure.

@spartans9312 maybe 'defend' was too strong a word. "Dismissed" might've been better with feigning shock that it happened and has happened before, but we're sort of splitting hairs there. Deflecting to 'government and fraud go hand and hand' definitely fits.

Let’s see here…I wasn’t shocked that SS info was hacked during this administration. I wasn’t shocked that it had happened before. You are pissed about something you wanted me to say that I did not. I still can’t figure out what was so controversial about my statement

Actually the opposite.  The federal bureaucratic payment system across all government programs and spending authority is a shit show . . . full stop.

DOGE barely scratched the surface on the massive incompetence and fraud in the federal payment system before the swamp and the Democrats went ballistic.  Schumer promised to undo everything DOGE  did as soon as Democrats take power.

I frankly don’t care if Doge has my SS data.  All that data in the hands of uninterested and unaccountable bureaucrats is less comforting.

Phantom payees in all of government spending is a gigantic humongous problem. DOGE began corrective measures and it gets excoriated.  Minnesota is just the tip of the iceberg.

Sadly, nobody gives a shit.  Those responsible for the mess still get votes.   The voters are more concerned about ICE  agents than those who steal trillions from all of us.

I wasn't pissed about anything. The difference here is that DOGE's leak was entirely predictable and avoidable. There were loud warning signs that DOGE was hiring less than scrupulous/qualified people and there were concerns what they were doing with all the access they had to highly sensative and private data. Turns out they were doing what a lot of people thought they were doing.

I read you essentially saying 'eh, it's happened before' as shrugging off the fact that DOGE was inept and completely at fault for this leak. Maybe I was I'm wrong.

so that's why me, my wife, my son in grad school, and my daughter in grad school all got notifications about a major data breach in the past few days.

What does grad school have to do with a data breach?

Maybe the Florida welfare system was hacked?

@spartans9312 grad school good lord.  At this point if it doesn't end in M.D. what a waste.  Go to work.  They should cut funding to about 98% of grad school programs for "students" hiding out wasting time studying nonsense.

What does grad school have to do with a data breach?

For kids in school the official mail still comes here, to our house.  If they were working (like my oldest daughter is) I wouldn't know if they got the same letter or not because they would have a permanent non-school address.

For those hand-wringing about grad schools, my son is finishing up a math PhD in a top 10 program and my daughter is working on an anthropology PhD.  Both could be working already, but their degrees will open more doors. Not like getting advanced degrees in Art history or French literature. My son turned down 6-figure jobs in AI after his Cornell undergrad math degree.

So the grad school thing you put as a qualifier has nothing to do with the data breach?
