What happens to one of those microreactors if it explodes or malfunctions? How much damage could it do?It's a good idea and I like it:

C'mon Jane. Everyone knows they melt down clear to China.
Every US submarine and aircraft carrier is nuclear powered. How many accidents have you heard of?What happens to one of those microreactors if it explodes or malfunctions? How much damage could it do?It's a good idea and I like it:
That doesn't answer my question.Every US submarine and aircraft carrier is nuclear powered. How many accidents have you heard of?What happens to one of those microreactors if it explodes or malfunctions? How much damage could it do?It's a good idea and I like it:
But I'm not worried about accidents as much as a target for terrorists and enemies. Even regarding accidents, though, I can see a lot of nations balking at allowing something like that in their country without having control over it. Would we?
The problem with nuclear is that in the event of a meltdown/accident/etc. the resulting damage to the land cannot be mediated. It's a difference in kind, not degree, w/r/t other power sources.
Re military accidents with nuclear material, here's an interesting list (lots of Russian stuff; I'm sure we don't know everything due to military secrecy). Looks like none with Navy propulsion systems:

A mini nuke reactor cannot explode.
A melt down is a theoretical possibility, but modern technology in cooling makes that possibility exceedingly rare.
It's a good idea and I like it:
I like it too. Way over due. We should be building and using mini nuke power plants all over. So much cleaner than large fossil fuel plants. Also much more dependable and practical than wind and solar.
It's to bad that US won't spend on providing nuclear energy solution for it's citizens in the US. Hopefully that will happen but not holding my breath.
What happened to Biden's plan for rolling out car chargers en mass before we could afford a decent EVs?
